Parents: At each troop meeting there will be a parents meeting to discuss who might be able to help out with the Boy Scout program. More hands helping out, makes the load easier for others. We need your support to put on a quality program for your son.

Partial Merit Badges:
Anyone who has started any merit badge is encouraged to get with their Counselor to see what requirements you need to finish it up. It is important to finish up incomplete merit badges before you start on another! A list of Merit Badge Counselors will be available soon!

Uniform Inspections:
Scouts are to wear their uniform shirts to every troop meeting. Acceptable pants are: jeans, green or tan pants. Hats and sashes are not necessary to wear to troop meetings. If your son is in need of any patches such as the Heart of Ohio Council patch, Troop number patches, or the purple universal emblem circle patch, there is a price list available at every troop meeting. Just bring your money to the troop meeting and we will get the patches for you.

Family Life Merit badge
The Family Life merit badge is now being offered. Please see Ms Faggionato if you would like to start on this Eagle required merit badge.

Popcorn Sale:
Money from the Popcorn sale is due on December 4th. Please contact Ms. Leonard (419-633-7033) or Ms. McGinley (419-588-1120) if you have any questions.

Fall Schedule

2009 Summer Camp

Troop 236 had another very successful summer camp this year.

The scouts not only had a lot of fun but earned over 50 merit badges- great job!

I would like to offer a special thanks to our senior scout leaders Tyler Bewley and Brian Bursley for doing an excellent job with the younger scouts. Patrick Leonard also showed scout spirit by helping keep the younger scouts motivated toward finishing their merit badges.

Lastly, special thanks to Eric Kibler and Eric Bursley for giving up their time to come to camp and help out.

Summer Camp

Dear Berlin Heights Scouters,

Additional scouts did vote.

We now have had over 50% of the scouts on the roster vote.

The new votes split right down the middle.

So by one vote we will be attending Camp Firelands.

I wish we were not so evenly divided. Based on how close the vote was I know that there would have been some people upset regardless of how the vote ended up.

My personal thoughts are that there were pluses and minuses to either choice and I did not have a strong preference.

The biggest concern I had when we opened it up to a vote was this exact situation that might keep a scout or two from attending camp. Getting as many scouts as possible to experience summer camp is goal we all share.

Based on what scouts have told me summer camp is one of the best experiences in scouting. Let's look at this as an opportunity for a new camp experience. I know most of us have spent quite a bit of time at Firelands over the years but summer camp will be different.

Right now pencil in the week after the fourth of July. I would like to attend camp with Troop 214. That is their tentative week right now but due to some coming changes at that troop they have not formally set a week yet but it will be finalzed in the next month.

I would like to thank everyone for their help with scouting. We had good turn out helping scouts with eagle projects over the last month.

Best in Scouting,

Don Leonard
